Some have boating experience and their own boats and for others it is first time. Nevertheless, Adriatic sea is specific.

As every micro-location, there are couple facts I would like to point out. It is not an open sea, neither an ocean. It is enclosed from 3 sides. North, shallow Istrian waters, East hilly Croatian coastline and West Italy. Basically it is like a big swimming pool. Especially during the summer months, when a big part of the days are windless. There might be from time to time a mild breeze from North West called the Mistral. From local point of view it is a pleasant wind that comes after lunch, never late, brings a douce refreshment and goes to seep as the sun goes down. The only wind that brings chop and bad weather is the Jugo aka Scirocco. Comes from South to South East (only direction from were the Adriatic is open to the Mediterranean). Good thing about it is that it comes slowly, literally make an announcement : today I start so tomorrow : In your case - take a walking tour, or visit some wineries on Pelješac peninsula. More or less we have absolved the winds, witch are major factor for a pleasant boat tour. #adriatic #mljet #elaphiti #boating
